Winter....

Yesterday it was 5C now -10C tomorrow morning -28C (with wind) and more then 1M of snow 1hr north of me. It is a big storm but I hope I only get a few cm of snow. I have stacked extra fire wood inside...if I don't loose electric power I will be warm:)

Had to cut our trip to long island down one day to get home a few hours before another big storm Got about 20cm of snow and it is -13C and very windy outside....about 30cm of snow on the ground and it is blowing all around.

Glad that you made it back and hope you had a great time together. :)

Well with the snow yesterday we have ~1.3M on the ground. This Sunday the high temp will be -18C and the low -24C. Getting to be a long winter:)

That sounds tough, Mike. Hope you have some extra wood inside and a small diesel generator. Keep warm mate!

By the way, I hope you can play a couple of rounds and blame it on the tangos. I'll put up a couple of winter maps on so they'll get the picture why that's all happening... ;)

I have thought about a generator however we have only lost power for a couple of hours 2 or 3 times in 31yrs I have been here. We get lots of snow and cold but the areas that get ice have power outages from broken wires.

This morning -17C BUT the wind is 30-35kph making the wind chill about -30C. Schools are closed today because kids standing out in the wind for only a short time can get frostbite.

I have the wood fire going and am nice and warm but I only have about 1 weeks worth of wood in the basement. The rest is stacked outside under a meter of snow:(

Oh dear.. :(

I wish I was nearby, I would help you throwing the snow off mate.

Took a short trip (~7or8km) to fill the car with petrol for the trip tomorrow. I took a few pictures on the way:)

Thanks for the photos, Mike. :) Looks great but I see the problem now with your driveway, that must be a tough work to clean it all the way down.

BTW I wonder what would happen when all that snow melts, do you have floods in that area?

Mike's picture

Melts?? Tomorrow the high temp will be -17C tomorrow night a low of -24.5C. Schools well open 2hr late tomorrow because of the low temps.

It will melt slowly however we can have some minor flooding OR the near by lakes will raise to high and do some damage.

Well it may reach +20C today. Still some small piles of snow around but they will melt quickly. Looks like we are going from winter to late-spring/early-summer quickly:)
