Winter....

Yesterday it was 5C now -10C tomorrow morning -28C (with wind) and more then 1M of snow 1hr north of me. It is a big storm but I hope I only get a few cm of snow. I have stacked extra fire wood inside...if I don't loose electric power I will be warm:)

Well, then it is warmer than here. We have 15-18C over the day and about 8-10C during the night. I walked out to the postbox in the early morning, at 2AM, to post a letter before I forget, wearing a piece of flip-flops and pyjama. :)

It warms up slower but as for my hey fever the spring is definitely here. :)

As for the winter, I assume you have the proper equipment for splitting woods on an every day basis. Well if not, I've come across a couple of videos yesterday that you might find useful:

Yes very interesting however I now buy my wood cut, split and delivered :). Then my nephew comes over and stacks it in my basement (5m from the wood stove) 5 face-cord at a time. I just need to carry the wood 5m and fill the stove 2-4 times per day. I think I save about $1,000 each year depending on the outside temperature and the price of kerosene. I also keep the house a little warmer using cheaper wood.

I did split my wood until about the age of 50. I would rather give extra $ to have it split then give extra $ to my chiropractor:)

Hey Mike here is a tip how you can make your own fuel for the furnace:

Well thats odd....6-8cm of snow last night and -5C this morning...glad I burned only half of my wood this past (warm) winter. If this was on April 1st I would wonder if the 'one upstairs' had an odd sense of humor...lol.

Oh wow! Well, let's hope it will melt soon so you don't have to shovel much. :)

We also had a snow yesterday in the very early morning. Although it didn't last long as the ground was wet by the rain before and the temperature was above freezing.

I don't mind the snow but the rain is kinda getting too much. It is either raining or drizzling for minimum two or three months now. There are only a couple of hours of the day when it stops.

Well spring almost made it...few more days:)
Today:
-12C and windy
Looks like about 35cm of snow. The university where I work closed yesterday and is closed until noon. This happens only once every ten years. Luck I have lots of wood from the mild winter and a new snow blower.

Yes, it is tough overthere, I just saw the news.

-12C? OUCH! We had that cold 7 years ago, half of England was a standstill for a week, not just "until noon".

Keep warm, Mike! Should you wish to hurt some tangos in the meanwhile... feel free to let me know. ;) I'll be available tonight in the usual time.

Just checked the temp outside...it is -19C and very windy. News on the TV said wind chill is -26C to -30C! Looks like all schools in the area are closed...Cornell is not:( Glad for my wood stove...hope I do not need my generator however some areas have lost power. Would of been a good day to stay home and reduce the number of tangos:)
